Sanitarium Health Food Company

Sanitarium Health Food Company – UP&GO No Added Sugar has been selected as an ABA100® Winner for Product Innovation in The Australian Brand Awards 2020. The Australian Brand Award for Product Innovation [PIA] recognises innovative consumer products offering a point of difference from their competitors.

Sanitarium Health Food Company has been making healthy, nutritious foods for more than 120 years. The company was founded on the mission of sharing a message of health and hope for a better life for every Australian and remains 100% Australian owned.

Sanitarium has a history of product innovation. It has created nutritious breakfast cereals, including the iconic Weet-BixTM, leading the development of soy milks with So GoodTM products and supporting the growing interest in vegetarian eating with the Vegie DelightsTM range. When launched, each of these brands changed Australia’s eating habits by providing more nutritious choices for health-conscious consumers.

Even health conscious consumers have sometimes found that healthy eating didn’t fit easily into their increasingly busy lives. For some, breakfast – which is often referred to as the most important meal of the day, became little more than an afterthought, if it was given any thought at all. The resulting trend was termed ‘breakfast skipping’. Recognising this trend and what it meant for consumers’ health and nutrition, Sanitarium launched UP&GO™ into the breakfast cereal market in 1998.

From within this market, the liquid breakfast category developed its own identity. New entrants to the category affirmed Sanitarium’s insight into how to best meet the needs of ‘breakfast skipping’ consumers, but UP&GO remains the leading liquid breakfast.

The continued success of the UP&GO brand is the result of Sanitarium’s commitment to product innovation. Originally available in 250mL and 350mL beverage cartons (or ‘juice boxes’), UP&GO was released as yoghurt for enhanced portability, and in 500mL bottles for consumers wanting a larger serve size.

The range has expanded to include variants to meet particular consumer needs, such as Protein Energize, Gluten Free, and in January 2020, No Added Sugar replaced Reduced Sugar. UP&GO No Added Sugar is available in two flavours: UP&GO No Added Sugar Choc Ice and UP&GO No Added Sugar Vanilla Ice.

With protein, fibre and low GI energy, UP&GO No Added Sugar takes everything that’s good about UP&GO Original to the next level. UP&GO No Added Sugar is a Formulated Supplementary Food and is intended to supplement a diet that may be low in energy or vitamins and minerals. UP&GO No Added Sugar 250mL has a shelf life of up to 9 months when stored in cool/dry conditions. Keep chilled after opening and use within 2 days.
